To become an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor in Michigan (or any state), you must meet the following requirements: Age Requirement: You must be at least 21 years old to become an NRA Certified Instructor.
However, you can become an Assistant Instructor at 18 years old or an Apprentice Instructor at 13 years old (under supervision).
Classes are offered by Republic Firearms Training Corporation which is located in Linden, Michigan, serving residents throughout the region.
Age Requirement: You must be at least 21 years old to become an NRA Certified Instructor. However, you can become an Assistant Instructor at 18 years old or an Apprentice Instructor at 13 years old (under supervision).
General Requirements: Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident Have a clean criminal background (no felony convictions or domestic violence convictions)
Have prior experience with firearms and be proficient in safe gun handling
Successfully complete the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course (or the discipline you wish to teach)
Pass the NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) course (valid for two years)
Pass the discipline-specific Instructor Training Course (e.g., Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, etc.)
Demonstrate instructional skills and pass the written and practical exams with a minimum score of 90%
No, owning a firearm is not required to take the class but recommended. If you are bringing your own firearm, please do not bring it into the classroom.
The 4-day NRA Instructor Certification Program through Republic Firearms Training Corporation will cost $975 and is delivered in 4 sections / days.
This program certifies you to teach multiple NRA disciplines, providing you with the skills and credentials to train others in responsible firearm use and safety.
Program Overview: This intensive course covers four certifications:
